The forest is named after the Chandraprabha River; meaning ‘The Luminescence of Moon’. The river is a tributary of the Karamnasha River and both flow through the forest to finally meet the Ganges, nourishing a wide variety of flora and fauna on the way for thousands of years. The rare and rich vegetation has been a prime source of Ayurvedic Medicine since the era Kashi Raj Divodas Dhanvantari.
